ABOUT THE GAME
What Is Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy?
A spoiler-light, source-backed overview of Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy: Sophia's prequel story, series context, platforms, chapters, and purchase basics.

What the official pages confirm
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is an original prequel to Asobo Studio's A Plague Tale. The official store description sets the premise: as Sophia, you journey to Minotaur's Island, outsmart deadly foes, and unravel ancient secrets — years before the events of Innocence and Requiem.
The game launched August 27, 2026, published by Focus Entertainment on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It is a full standalone release, not DLC and not A Plague Tale 3 — the next mainline chapter remains unannounced.
- Genre: action-adventure with combat, traversal and puzzle-solving; the official interview says it is no longer a pure stealth game.
- Launch reception: Very Positive on Steam (88% of recent reviews, verified August 30, 2026 via SteamDB snapshot).
- Platform note: it also shipped day-one on Xbox Game Pass (see the Game Pass page for sources).

How to use this site
This is an independent fan guide. We separate official facts (store page, publisher announcements, Xbox Wire) from editorial snapshots, and every claim carries a last-verified date.
Start with the question you actually have: chapter count, Game Pass, release details, or first-run survival. Each page answers first and shows its sources after.
- Chapters: all 14 chapter names, spoiler-free — see the chapters page.
- Length: one TechRadar reviewer reported roughly 15 hours for the story and about five more collecting; this is not a player-wide average.
- Rats: yes — the rats are back, and the island gives them new hunting grounds.
