Release facts
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy launched on August 27, 2026, confirmed by the official Steam release-date field and Focus Entertainment's launch announcement. It shipped simultaneously on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and also joined Xbox Game Pass in August 2026 (Wave 2) — see our Game Pass page for the official announcement.
This is an original prequel to the mainline series, not an expansion or DLC of a previous game. No prior A Plague Tale titles are required to follow the story.
- PC: Steam (app 2713000).
- Console: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, same date.
- Subscription: included with Xbox Game Pass from launch month.
- Price context: regional pricing applies — check your platform's store for the live number.
What about A Plague Tale 3?
Resonance is not the announced third mainline entry. Asobo and Focus have framed it as a standalone prequel that expands the world's timeline — the launch interview coverage explicitly positions it as far more than A Plague Tale 3 in scope of lore rather than a continuation of Amicia and Hugo's story.
Whether a true A Plague Tale 3 follows is unannounced. We will update this page if Focus confirms anything official.
- Spinoff or mainline? Neither — officially an original prequel story.
- Is it a DLC? No. It is a full standalone release.
- Timeline: set before the events of A Plague Tale: Innocence.
